The Bhumi
I am fond of the word “Bhoomi”. In most of the Asian languages, “Bhoomi” has the same meaning ““ “Earth”. Whether it’s India, Indonesia, Thailand or Malaysia, Bhoomi is the same.
I came across a site called “Bhumi“. I forgot how I stumbled on this. But, I was caught by their mission. Bhumi is the non-profit initiative started by a business man and some IT professionals working in Oracle, Bose and Accenture.
According to their website “Bhumi is a Development Institution which took shape because of a sense of disillusionment with the present leadership of the nation and the state of affairs in our country. We are a group of like-minded Young Indians who have come together to forge this institution. We strive to evolve creative and cost effective solutions to the complex socio-economic problems of this nation and, in the process, groom next generation leaders of our country. ”
I am personally happy when I read these lines. People like me always write about how bad things are in this country. I get angry many times when I see some morons spit in the street. I want to beat up people who jump the queues. It’s very disgusting to see the garbage lying in the street. Few weeks ago, entire Chennai was littered like that.
Leadership of the nation is just part of the problem. They didn’t cause all these problems. I feel that most of the country’s issues are created by people that are selfish and don’t have any self-discipline.
Bhumi is trying to fix some of the problems. I wish them success. If their mission (of grooming next generation leaders of our country) succeeds, India will succeed.
